Berlin, Germany – Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, met on Thursday with Julia Klöckner, President of the German Federal Parliament “Bundestag”, during his official visit to Germany, where the two sides discussed relations between the two countries and ways to develop cooperation between them in various fields, especially at the parliamentary level.
Discussing UAE-German relations
Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed visited the German Parliament in Berlin, where he was received by the Speaker of Parliament and a number of MPs, who welcomed the visit and stressed its importance in strengthening relations between the two friendly countries.
The two sides exchanged views on a number of issues of common interest, in addition to discussing ways to develop parliamentary relations in a manner that serves the common interests of the UAE and Germany and their peoples.
Affirming shared human values
Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed stressed the importance of shared human values between the two countries, especially with regard to promoting coexistence and cultural and intellectual exchange between peoples and cultures.
He pointed out that the UAE, since its founding, has been keen to build bridges of communication and cooperation with various countries around the world, stressing the importance of the role that parliaments play in consolidating these values, in support of development, peace and stability efforts.
He also expressed his gratitude to the Speaker of the German Parliament for the warm welcome he and his accompanying delegation received during the visit.
Praise for parliamentary cooperation
The President of the United Arab Emirates wrote a message in the German Parliament’s guestbook, in which he affirmed his country’s interest in strengthening parliamentary cooperation as an important aspect of the close relations between the two countries, and one of the tributaries for developing cooperation and common interests.
The meeting was attended by Saqr Ghobash, Speaker of the Federal National Council, and a number of senior officials accompanying the President during his visit to Germany, which also includes talks with the German leadership on strengthening the partnership between the two countries in multiple fields.
