Washington, United States – Media reports indicate that the commander of the US Central Command (CENTCOM), General Michael Corella, recommended to US President Donald Trump that military strikes against Iran be halted,
after a military assessment concluded that the operations had achieved maximum effectiveness and that continuing them would not yield additional gains on the ground.
Corolla: Military objectives have been achieved
According to the report, Corella informed the US president that the main objectives of the military operation had been achieved,
noting that continuing the strikes could increase the risk of regional escalation without achieving significant military results, which led him to recommend ending the campaign at this stage.
Monitoring developments and maintaining troop readiness
The report added that the assessment was based on the results of the strikes targeting military installations and sites linked to the Iranian nuclear program.
The US military leadership concluded that the operation successfully achieved its objectives of deterrence and weakening the targeted capabilities.
It noted that this recommendation coincided with US diplomatic efforts aimed at containing tensions and preventing an escalation of the confrontation,
while Washington continued to monitor developments on the ground and maintain its forces’ readiness to respond to any new developments.
