Beirut, Lebanon – Lebanese President General Joseph Aoun affirmed that the time has come for Lebanon and the wider region to enjoy lasting peace and stability. He emphasized that current geopolitical dynamics necessitate intensified diplomatic and security efforts. Moreover, these efforts aim to end regional tensions and fully restore state authority.

Consolidating Security and Supporting National Armed Forces

Speaking amid ongoing regional diplomatic engagements, President Aoun asserted that Lebanon’s stability is fundamentally intertwined with the broader security architecture of the Middle East. He highlighted the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) and official security agencies as the sole guarantors of national stability. Additionally, he called on the international community to maintain robust assistance. This support enables the military to enforce border control and fulfill its sovereign mandates.

Aoun noted that transitioning from crisis management to economic recovery requires upholding the rule of law. He also called for consolidating arms under state control. Furthermore, creating a safe environment is essential for international investment and institutional reform.

Regional Diplomacy and Security Arrangements

The President’s remarks coincide with rapid political and diplomatic maneuvers across the region, alongside ongoing security deployments in southern Lebanon designed to enforce ceasefire frameworks and prevent renewed military escalation.

International and regional partners have increasingly reinforced calls for diplomatic resolution, recognizing that long-term regional stability depends on empowering national state institutions and protecting vital economic and trade corridors against further disruption.

President Aoun’s statements underscore Beirut’s pivotal role in regional de-escalation. They demonstrate that empowering official Lebanese state institutions and enforcing military sovereignty serve as critical anchors for broader Middle Eastern security.
