Paris, France – France’s Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs summoned Iran’s chargé d’affaires in Paris on Tuesday to deliver a formal protest following the detention and intimidation of two French Embassy staff members in Tehran by Iranian security personnel.

The French Foreign Minister confirmed that the two embassy employees were subjected to “severe intimidation” by Iranian security services. He added that both staff members are scheduled to return to France within the coming hours.
During the summons, French officials conveyed strong condemnation of the incident, reiterating that the targeting or harassment of diplomatic staff violates international protocols and compromises standard bilateral engagements.
