Cairo, Egypt – The Arab Republic of Egypt strongly condemned on Sunday the Iranian attacks targeting the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait, and Bahrain, describing them as “heinous.” In an official statement, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed that these attacks constitute a blatant violation of the sovereignty of these countries. Furthermore, it considered them a dangerous escalation that threatens the security and stability of the Arabian Gulf region and undermines all regional and international efforts aimed at reducing tensions and establishing security and stability in the region.
Full Egyptian solidarity with the Gulf states
In its statement, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry stressed Cairo’s complete rejection of any Iranian aggression targeting the security and sovereignty of brotherly Arab states or threatening the stability of the region. Furthermore, Egypt reaffirmed its full solidarity with the Gulf states and its unwavering support for them in confronting all threats to their security and territorial integrity.
The statement also stressed that “no excuses or justifications can be accepted for these reprehensible and unacceptable attacks.” Furthermore, it called for an immediate cessation of all escalatory actions and the necessity of full adherence to the rules of international law, in order to preserve the security of the region and spare its people the scourge of further tension and instability.
The expansion of Iranian operations in the region
This Egyptian condemnation comes at a time of dramatic escalation on the ground. Consequently, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard-affiliated Tasnim News Agency confirmed on Sunday morning that Iranian armed forces had carried out large-scale attacks against US military installations in five regional countries. The agency described these operations as a “direct response” to recent US strikes against Iranian sites.
According to the agency’s reports, the list of targets struck by Iranian missiles and drones included strategic and vital sites. These targets were distributed as follows: Prince Hassan Air Base in Jordan, Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, Al Shuwaikh Port in Kuwait, the Fifth Fleet base and Juffair Port in Bahrain, and also the port of Duqm and US military fuel depots in the Sultanate of Oman.
These developments place the region at a dangerous crossroads. At the same time, diplomatic efforts are intensifying to contain the situation, while the ongoing military operations continue to raise serious international concerns about energy security and navigation in international waterways. Furthermore, there are repeated calls from regional powers, most notably Egypt, for dialogue and de-escalation to prevent the region from sliding into a full-blown confrontation.
