Manama, Bahrain – The General Command of the Bahrain Defence Force announced this morning, Sunday, July 12, 2026, that the Kingdom’s air defense systems successfully intercepted and destroyed a number of Iranian missiles and drones before they reached their targets.
Bahrain Defense Force: Fully prepared and ready to respond decisively
In an official statement released via the “X” platform, the General Command affirmed that Iran continues its systematic hostile approach by directing its missiles and drones to target civilians and private property in the Kingdom of Bahrain. It deemed this a blatant violation of international humanitarian law. The force also confirmed that all its units and weapons are at the highest levels of readiness and are fully prepared to defend the Kingdom’s sovereignty.
The General Command also urged all citizens and residents to exercise caution and stay away from any strange or suspicious objects that may be remnants of these attacks, emphasizing the importance of reporting them immediately. It clarified that the Royal Field Engineering Unit is fully prepared to handle these objects safely and professionally to ensure everyone’s safety.
Iran announces targeting of US facilities
In response, and in an escalation that widens the scope of the conflict, the Tasnim news agency, affiliated with Iran’s Revolutionary Guard, reported that Iranian armed forces launched large-scale attacks targeting US military installations and bases in five regional countries. This was their declared retaliation for the recent US attacks.
According to the Iranian report, the list of targets included Prince Hassan Air Base in Jordan, Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, Kuwait’s Shuwaikh Port, the US Fifth Fleet base and the Juffair area in Bahrain, as well as the port of Duqm and US military fuel depots in Oman.
Gulf state of alert
This military move comes amid a new wave of escalation in the Gulf region since this morning, with Iran renewing its simultaneous attacks on Bahrain, Qatar, the UAE, and Kuwait. In response, the four countries announced the activation of their advanced defense systems to counter the aerial threats. They also imposed heightened security measures and intensified warnings to their residents. These developments reflect a state of significant military tension, amid international concerns about the repercussions of this escalation on regional security and international shipping lanes, as the exchange of military operations continues and the Gulf capitals remain on high alert under extremely complex field conditions.
