Kuwait – The Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its strong condemnation and denunciation of the attacks targeting its territory on Sunday morning, considering them a reflection of a recurring hostile approach. In an official statement, the Ministry affirmed that these attacks constitute a grave violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the State of Kuwait. In addition, it deemed them a blatant breach of international law, the Charter of the United Nations, and Security Council Resolution 2817.
Regional escalation threatens peace and security
The Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs warned that the continuation of these attacks constitutes a highly dangerous escalation that will exacerbate tensions in the region. Furthermore, it clarified that this escalation undermines all diplomatic efforts aimed at de-escalation and resolving crises peacefully. The Ministry emphasized that the security and sovereignty of the State of Kuwait are a red line that cannot be crossed. It also affirmed Kuwait’s full legal rights to take the necessary measures to protect its security and preserve its sovereignty in accordance with international frameworks.
The Gulf is under the weight of simultaneous attacks
This development comes amid a wave of military escalation in the Gulf region on Sunday. Iran launched simultaneous attacks targeting Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, and the UAE. The four countries declared a state of high alert, activating their defense systems to counter the barrage of missiles and drones. The attack targeted vital infrastructure.
In this context, the Qatari Ministry of Defense announced that its forces had intercepted a missile attack, confirming the efficiency and readiness of its air defense systems.
Simultaneously, the UAE Ministry of Defense stated that it had successfully dealt with aerial attacks. Residents also reported hearing explosions in various areas. These explosions were later determined to be the result of interceptions carried out by air defenses against ballistic and cruise missiles and drones. In Bahrain, state television announced that air defenses had intercepted and destroyed hostile targets. Authorities then officially declared the airspace clear and the alert lifted after the airspace was secured.
The Kuwaiti army is repelling the infiltrations.
In a significant development, the Kuwaiti army announced that it successfully intercepted hostile targets that had penetrated the country’s airspace. This marks the first time the Kuwaiti armed forces have announced direct interception operations since the start of the recent regional escalation. As of the time of writing, no further details have been released regarding the nature of the targets intercepted or any damage that may have resulted from these hostile attempts. The security situation on the ground remains under close observation.
