Deir ez-Zor, Syria – The Emirates International Aid Agency carried out an urgent relief intervention to support families affected by the floods that swept the Euphrates River Basin in Syria.
This is within the framework of the directives of Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and in continuation of the ongoing UAE humanitarian response to support the Syrian people.
This intervention comes within a series of successive humanitarian interventions implemented by the UAE. The current phase represents an extension of efforts to mitigate the repercussions of the disaster on affected families. In coordination with the relevant local Syrian authorities, in preparation for providing support during the recovery phase and assessing needs resulting from the floods that damaged homes, infrastructure, and agricultural lands. It affected the lives of thousands of families who faced difficulties in obtaining their basic needs.

The field work team of the Emirates International Aid Agency carried out field visits and held meetings with residents and concerned local authorities in the affected areas. He was directly informed of the conditions of families and their humanitarian needs, ensuring that support is directed to those who deserve it and achieves the greatest possible impact on the ground. By assessing the scale of the challenges facing affected communities, this has reinforced the importance of rapid intervention to alleviate their suffering and support their ability to overcome the repercussions of the disaster. Follow up on the various stages of implementing the relief operation to ensure that aid reaches beneficiaries efficiently and quickly, in accordance with the actual needs of the affected communities.
