  • Increasing agreements with African countries
  • Political controversy and financial funding
  • Expansion of the policy of external deportation

Bangui, Central African Republic – Two sources familiar with the matter said the Central African Republic has agreed to accept foreign migrants deported by the United States. This comes as Washington expands its efforts to reach agreements with African countries to manage migration. The sources explained that this move is part of a series of understandings the US administration is reaching with several African nations. The aim is to expedite the deportation of undocumented migrants from the United States.

Increasing agreements with African countries

According to sources, the United States has previously deported foreign nationals to several African countries, including the Democratic Republic of Congo, Ghana, Sierra Leone, and Equatorial Guinea. These deportations were carried out under bilateral agreements. Such agreements indicate a growing US trend toward involving third countries in processing deportations, particularly for migrants who cannot be returned to their countries of origin.

Political controversy and financial funding

The sources reported that some of the agreements sparked controversy within American political circles. Democratic senators indicated that these understandings cost tens of millions of dollars in public funds. These developments come amid escalating debate within the United States regarding immigration and border policies, particularly concerning the handling of complex deportation cases.

Expansion of the policy of external deportation

Observers believe that Washington’s reliance on African countries to receive deportees reflects a shift in its approach to immigration management. It also indicates a reliance on solutions outside its borders to address the increasing pressure on the US immigration system.
