Moscow, Russia – The Russian Ministry of Defense announced that its air defense systems intercepted and destroyed 19 Ukrainian drones in the past 12 hours. This comes amid a series of aerial attacks targeting various locations within Russian territory.
In an official statement, the ministry explained that air defense forces detected the hostile targets and successfully engaged them before they reached their intended targets. It also confirmed that all detected drones were shot down or destroyed before they could complete their missions.
The statement indicated that the interceptions took place across several Russian regions and territories. Air defense units are working around the clock to counter the growing threat posed by the use of drones in the ongoing conflict between Moscow and Kyiv.
The Ministry of Defense confirmed that Ukrainian drone attacks have become more frequent recently. Nevertheless, Russian detection and interception systems continue to perform their duties with high efficiency in protecting airspace, vital facilities, and strategic infrastructure.
This announcement comes at a time when the Russian-Ukrainian war is witnessing a significant escalation in the use of long-range drones. These aircraft have become one of the most prominent tools of confrontation between the two sides, targeting military sites as well as energy and transportation infrastructure.
Through these attacks, Ukraine seeks to exert pressure deep into Russia and disrupt its logistical and military capabilities. Moscow, on the other hand, asserts that its air defenses are capable of countering most of these threats and limiting their impact on internal security.
These developments reflect the continued high-intensity military confrontation despite international efforts to contain the conflict. Both sides continue to conduct offensive and defensive operations along the front lines and in the rear areas of both countries. This further complicates the security and military landscape in the region.
