Beirut, Lebanon – Southern Lebanon witnessed a new military escalation today. Israeli warplanes and artillery launched a series of airstrikes and heavy shelling targeting various towns in the districts of Tyre, Marjeyoun, and Bint Jbeil. This comes amid heightened security tensions along the southern border.
Field sources reported that the shelling focused on the outskirts of several border villages, open areas, and the vicinity of populated towns. Simultaneously, loud explosions were heard in multiple locations, coinciding with low-altitude flights by warplanes and drones.
The sources added that the attacks occurred in rapid succession over a short period, causing panic among the population. Consequently, some families took precautionary measures or left areas near the bombing sites.
This escalation comes amid ongoing military tensions along the Lebanese-Israeli border, which has witnessed intermittent exchanges of fire recently. There are growing fears that the confrontations in southern Lebanon could expand in the coming period.
