Paris, France – The Élysée Palace has confirmed that France and its partners have the capability to secure the Strait of Hormuz. This comes as part of international efforts to protect maritime navigation and ensure the stability of trade, amid escalating regional tensions.
Military movements towards the Red Sea
The French armed forces announced that the aircraft carrier group Charles de Gaulle is heading towards the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden. This is part of a joint effort with Britain to prepare for a future mission. According to Reuters, this mission aims to reinforce freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
Crossing the Suez Canal and strategic deployment
The French Ministry of the Armed Forces reported that the aircraft carrier group had transited the Suez Canal en route to the southern Red Sea. This is part of a strategic repositioning of French forces in line with evolving security developments in the region.
Long spread in the region
The group had been deployed to the eastern Mediterranean shortly after the outbreak of war between the United States and Israel on one side and Iran on the other. It was expected that they could remain at sea for four to five months as part of their operational mission.
