Havana, Cuba – Cuba has categorically rejected a new package of US sanctions, describing them as “unilateral coercive measures” that violate the principles of international law. It also asserted that these sanctions constitute an infringement on the sovereignty of states.
In an official statement, the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed that these sanctions are part of a sustained policy of pressure aimed at undermining the country’s economic and social stability. It further emphasized that Havana will not yield to what it termed attempts at “political subjugation.”

The statement added that the Cuban government is working to counter the repercussions of these measures by diversifying its economic partnerships and strengthening cooperation with friendly nations. This aims to ensure the continued provision of basic necessities for its citizens and to mitigate the impact of the sanctions.
Cuba also called on the international community to reject unilateral policies. It further urged support for the principle of dialogue based on mutual respect and non-interference in the internal affairs of states. Cuba asserted that the continuation of sanctions hinders development opportunities and exacerbates the suffering of peoples.
Observers believe that the recent escalation between Havana and Washington reflects the persistence of historical disagreements between the two countries. This comes at a time when international calls are growing for an end to the sanctions and the opening of a new chapter based on cooperation and mutual understanding.
