Beirut, Lebanon – A cautious calm prevailed in several Lebanese regions as the ceasefire agreement came into effect, in a scene where relief mingled with anticipation. This followed a period of escalation and heightened security tensions.

The capital, Beirut, and other cities witnessed a noticeable decrease in the pace of shelling and military movements. Some residents gradually returned to their homes, especially in areas that had experienced displacement in recent days. This occurred amidst attempts to restore a semblance of normalcy.

Despite this calm, a sense of unease still gripped the Lebanese public, fueled by fears of the agreement’s fragility and the possibility of its collapse at any moment. This unease was exacerbated by continued aerial activity in some areas and the detection of limited military movements.

Relief teams began assessing the damage and providing assistance to those affected. This comes at a time when infrastructure faces significant challenges due to the damage it sustained during the escalation.

Politically, international and regional contacts continue to solidify the ceasefire and prevent renewed clashes. This is occurring amidst calls to open a diplomatic track that guarantees long-term stability. Between the calm streets and the anxiety in people’s hearts, Lebanon is experiencing the first days of the truce with a cautious unease. It now awaits what the coming hours and days will bring.
