Canberra, Australia – In an extraordinary move to counter the rapidly escalating economic fallout from the conflict between Iran and several international powers, the Australian government announced an emergency package that included the temporary suspension of highway tolls. These measures aim to ease the burden on citizens and support the movement of goods and supplies.

This move comes amid a sharp rise in global fuel prices, a consequence of tensions in the Gulf region and their direct impact on oil supplies. This, in turn, has affected transport and shipping costs within Australia.

Authorities confirmed that the decision aims to reduce the cost of living and support supply chains, especially given the increasing pressure on the food and energy sectors. They also indicated that the government is monitoring developments closely and will take further measures if necessary.

Economic experts believe that eliminating road tolls may help alleviate inflation in the short term, but it will place additional strain on the public budget. This may prompt the government to seek alternative financing options in the coming period.

This move reflects the global impact of the war, whose repercussions have not been limited to the Middle East. They have extended to economies as far away as Australia, which is striving to contain the shock and maintain the stability of its domestic markets.
