Aden, Yemen – Southern Armed Forces spokesman, Lieutenant Colonel Mohammed al-Naqeeb, announced that the armed forces launched a large-scale military operation at dawn today. The operation, dubbed “Promising Future,” aims to liberate and clear the cities of Wadi and the Hadramawt desert region.
The captain confirmed that the operation was carried out immediately in accordance with the directives of President Aidarus bin Qasim al-Zubaidi, head of the Southern Transitional Council. The operation came in response to appeals from the people of Wadi Hadramawt. It primarily targets “terrorist elements and the Muslim Brotherhood-affiliated military militias allied with them, also known as the First Military Region.”
Control of Seiyun and securing vital facilities
In an interview with Aden Independent TV, Lieutenant Colonel Al-Naqeeb stated that the armed forces had managed to “precisely and swiftly” seize control of the capital of Wadi Hadramawt, specifically the city of Seiyun.
The captain confirmed that the forces have taken all necessary security measures to protect vital interests and facilities. They are also working to normalize the situation and maintain security and stability.
Cutting off the arteries of Iranian arms smuggling to the terrorist Houthi militia will completely eliminate the terrorism that has drained the blood and wealth of the people of Wadi and Hadramawt desert.
National and regional achievement
The official spokesperson explained that these victories represent “a significant national achievement for the South.” He also emphasized that this liberation is simultaneously “an achievement in the context of strengthening regional and global security.” He further noted the role played by the Southern Armed Forces in combating terrorism since the launch of the first military operation in the city of Mukalla in 2016.
