Tehran, Iran – Reza Zarabi, the son of Iranian-American citizen Afarin Mohajer,

confirmed that his 70-year-old mother was arrested by security forces at Tehran’s Mehrabad Airport.

He noted that she faces five serious charges and that her health condition is of “grave concern”.

Details of the arrest of the Iranian migrant

Arresting party: In an interview with Radio Farda, Zarabi accused

the Iranian Revolutionary Guard intelligence of “kidnapping” his mother from the airport.

Zarabi confirmed that the family had not received any information about his mother for 43 days.

He added that some accused them of fabricating the story

and denying her presence in prison.

Afrin Mohajer is currently in Ward 209 of Evin Prison,

a ward usually reserved for political prisoners.

Her presence was confirmed after a brief phone call with the family.

A “very serious” health condition

Zarabi warned that the continued detention of his mother, who resides in Los Angeles,

Her life is in grave danger due to her deteriorating health condition.

The Iranian woman, Mohajer, suffers from cancer in addition

to a brain tumor between her eyes.

Zarabi pointed out that his mother does not receive

her vital medications inside the prison.

He revealed that doctors had warned her before her arrest

that her health condition might not allow her to live for a long time.
