Caribbean Islands – Hurricane Melissa has intensified in recent hours, becoming one of the most dangerous hurricanes to hit the Caribbean in years. This comes amid warnings of widespread damage to infrastructure and a near-total disruption to electricity and transportation networks.

Meteorologists said the Category 4 hurricane is moving with wind speeds exceeding 220 kilometers per hour. It is heading toward the eastern coast, bringing heavy rains and potential flooding. These conditions could lead to landslides and significant material losses.

Local authorities have declared a state of emergency and ordered the evacuation of residents from low-lying areas. Rescue teams are preparing for a catastrophic scenario should the hurricane continue to intensify in the coming hours.
