Beirut, Lebanon – Lebanese artist Fadel Chaker has decided to postpone any decision regarding his next move until his scheduled court hearing on August 5. Despite the lifting of his travel ban, he prefers to await the outcome of the judicial proceedings before taking any further steps.
Lifting the travel ban
On Wednesday, Lebanon’s Permanent Military Court approved a request to lift the travel ban on Fadel Shaker, a week after the decision to release him on bail, according to the National News Agency.
Postponement of the trial
The Permanent Military Court in Beirut decided yesterday, Tuesday, to postpone the trial of Fadel Shaker—regarding four security-related cases filed against him—to a hearing on August 5, after it proved impossible to transport him from his place of detention to the courthouse due to the deterioration of his health.
Fadel Shaker’s first comment
In his first comments following the decision to release him, Fadel Shaker asked his fans and social media followers to understand his health and family circumstances and to grant him a “brief opportunity” to recover and attend to his family, emphasizing his need for some time before fully resuming his activities.
