Dubai, UAE – Topped the latest developments in the fifth edition of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum International Water Prize. And the results of humanitarian projects in Tanzania, the second meeting of the Board of Trustees of the “Saqya Emirates” Foundation for the year 2026. It was held under the chairmanship of Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, reviewing a package of achievements and strategic initiatives at the local and global levels.
During its meeting, the Council discussed the details of the Mohammed bin Rashid International Water Prize, which has a total prize pool of one million US dollars. Highlighting the increasing global demand for participation in it by universities, research centers, companies, institutions and innovators. Note that the Foundation will continue to receive applications for participation until September 30, 2026.
Providing clean water
In the same global context, the attendees reviewed the results of the field trip conducted to closely examine the positive impact of the projects implemented in Tanzania. Under the directives of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. The trip highlighted the role of these projects in providing clean, potable water to residents of various governorates and villages, serving more than one million people today. It has contributed significantly to improving their quality of life and protecting them from the risks of diseases resulting from water pollution. In addition to allowing them time to work, study, or care for their families, instead of going through long distances every day to get water.
Al-Furaij refrigerator
At the local level, the meeting highlighted the participation of the Emirates Water Foundation, for the third year in a row, in the humanitarian community campaign “Al-Freij Refrigerator”. This initiative was launched by the Farjan Dubai Foundation with support from the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives Foundation. In cooperation with Saqia Emirates and Emirates Food Bank. The campaign aims to distribute two million packages of cold water, juices and ice cream to workers in the Emirate of Dubai during the summer.
In this regard, Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer affirmed the Foundation’s commitment to a leadership approach, saying: “We draw inspiration from Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, for the values of giving and working for humanity inside and outside the UAE”. We work to support the UAE’s humanitarian and national message to extend a helping hand to those in need.
