Amman, UAE – The UAE national judo team will begin its participation in the Asian Junior and Youth Singles Championship on Thursday. Hosted by the Jordanian capital, Amman, from July 16 to 22, with a preliminary round competition for the junior category in the under 50, 55, 60 and 66 kg weight classes.
The tournament, organized by the Jordanian Judo Federation, is attended by 176 male and female players representing 20 Asian countries. The closing competitions of the opening round are preceded by the official ceremony of the tournament.
The competitions will also witness the holding of preliminary rounds for the junior women’s category in weights under 40, 44, 48 and 52 kg.
The organizing committee approved the UAE national team roster, which includes 10 players. They are: Manea Al Zaabi, Rashid Nematov, Masoud Mohammed, Abdulrahman Janif, Anas Al Yamahi, Youssef Al Awad, and Butti Al Hashemi. Saqr Al-Otaibi, Hamdan Al-Mazmi, and Mohammed Al-Mazmi.
The Emirates Judo Federation confirmed that the team is fully ready to compete in the tournament, after the team’s delegation arrived in Amman on Tuesday. It is headed by Mohammed Jassim, Secretary-General of the Federation, and includes, in addition to the players, Uzbek technical director Sharaf al-Din Lutfullah and coach Islam al-Qazzaz.
