Tel Aviv, Israel – An Israeli military court sentenced an Israeli soldier to five years in prison after convicting him of spying for Iran. This case is one of the most prominent security breaches uncovered by Israeli authorities in recent times.
According to the Israeli military, the soldier, who was serving his mandatory military service, contacted individuals linked to Iranian intelligence. He provided them with information and video footage related to military operations, including videos documenting the interception of Iranian missiles during recent confrontations, in exchange for money.
The statement indicated that investigations revealed the accused had carried out several intelligence tasks at the behest of his handlers. Security forces were able to track his movements and arrest him, after which he was referred to military court, which convicted him following the completion of investigations and legal procedures.
The case comes amid escalating security tensions between Israel and Iran. Meanwhile, the Israeli military has tightened security measures to prevent any attempts to infiltrate its ranks or leak information that could compromise national security, according to the Israeli army.
