Abu Dhabi, UAE – Space 42, a company specializing in AI-powered space technology, affirmed that localizing the assembly, integration, and testing of its Foresight satellites within the UAE represents a strategic step that translates knowledge into tangible industrial capability. This also strengthens the development of a comprehensive national space ecosystem that supports the economy and technology.
Hassan Al Hosani stated on the sidelines of the UAE’s Make in the UAE 2026 event
that the company is working to transform the UAE’s space ambitions into advanced operational and sovereign capabilities.
These capabilities encompass the design, assembly, and operation of satellites,
as well as the transformation of their data into actionable insights that serve governments and vital sectors.
Localizing the satellite industry
Al Hosani explained that the Foresight constellation represents a practical model of this approach,
as the company began by launching advanced radar satellites for Earth observation.
It then moved to localize key stages of the value chain within the UAE, including assembly, integration, and testing.
He pointed out that the launch of the Foresight 3, Foresight 4, and Foresight 5 satellites reflects the development of national industrial capabilities,
as they are the first radar satellites to be integrated and tested within the country.
This was achieved through the Space42 Aerospace Industries Complex in Abu Dhabi.
He added that the complex is the first regional center specializing in the assembly, integration, and testing of Earth observation satellites.
It also aims to develop a sustainable industrial and technological base in the space sector.
Artificial intelligence is at the heart of the system
Al Hosani emphasized that artificial intelligence is a core component of the company’s operations,
explaining that the GIQ data analytics center collects geospatial data from satellites, aerial platforms, and ground-based sensors.
This data is then transformed into information that supports decision-making.
He noted that these technologies are used in various fields, including disaster management,
infrastructure monitoring, urban planning, national security, and environmental protection.
This enhances operational efficiency and improves risk prediction capabilities.
Promoting local content
Al Hosani explained that the company aims to increase local content in the coming years
by expanding its industrial operations within the UAE and developing a specialized national workforce.
It also plans to strengthen partnerships with government entities and the private sector.
He emphasized that these steps will contribute to solidifying the UAE position as a regional hub for developing, operating,
and exporting advanced Earth observation and space technology solutions to global markets.
