Manama, Bahrain – The Bahraini Ministry of Interior announced on Saturday a significant security achievement: the uncovering of a large clandestine organization linked to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps and adhering to the doctrine of “Guardianship of the Islamic Jurist” (Velayat-e Faqih). The Ministry indicated that this operation is part of a comprehensive national campaign to protect national security and to counter attempts to destabilize the Kingdom.
Dismantling the main organization
The Ministry of Interior stated that meticulous investigations and security reports, supported by the findings of the Public Prosecution’s investigations into previous espionage cases, led to the identification of the organization’s members. The Ministry confirmed the arrest of 41 individuals from the core group. At the same time, it emphasized that field operations, searches, and investigations are ongoing. Legal measures are being taken against anyone found to be involved in this plot, which aims to undermine the country’s sovereignty and vital interests.
Comprehensive security and legal review
This announcement comes just days after the Ministry revealed it had launched a comprehensive security and legal review to examine crimes and practices that coincided with recent Iranian attacks against Bahrain. This review includes monitoring espionage and sympathy for the aggression. Additionally, an investigation is underway into the alignment of some members of parliament with those whom the King of Bahrain has described as “traitors.” This reflects an official firm stance in dealing with any political or security breaches.
Drying up the sources of extremist thought
The Ministry of Interior highlighted the seriousness of the practices uncovered by the investigations, revealing that certain ideological and religious groups exploited media platforms, pulpits, social and charitable institutions, and even schools and kindergartens, to disseminate distorted concepts. The Ministry affirmed that these organizations sought to utilize these institutions to deepen the influence of extremist ideology, with its political dimensions, under a religious guise within the fabric of society.
The statement emphasized that committing these acts constitutes a stab in the back of the state, which provides all forms of care for its citizens. It also affirmed that the law will take its course to deter anyone who dares to harm the social fabric of Bahrain.
