Abu Dhabi, UAE – On Wednesday, the UAE celebrates the 50th anniversary of the unification of its armed forces. Amidst feelings of pride and honor for the championships and achievements I have achieved over 5 decades. During which it proved to be the impregnable fortress and the stern sword in defending the nation’s sovereignty and preserving its gains.
This year, the UAE Armed Forces demonstrated to the world their high efficiency and full readiness to repel Iranian aggression. And thwart all his attempts to undermine the security of the homeland and destabilize it. Recording an unprecedented achievement in the history of modern armies in terms of the success of confronting ballistic missiles and drones that targeted the Emirates.
May 6th of each year is considered one of the most important national milestones in the history of the UAE. On this day in the year 1977, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may God bless his soul, and his brothers, members of the Supreme Council of the Union, took a strategic decision to unify the armed forces. This decision established a new phase in building a unified and strong national army, which is today considered among the strongest in the region.

The unification of the armed forces embodied the spirit of the unity of the UAE, strengthened its pillars, and consolidated national unity. Its role in protecting the state’s gains and contributing to development has increased. Especially with its rightful place among the armies of the modern world, thanks to the continuous development in organization, qualification and armament.
The UAE Armed Forces are moving forward on a clearly defined path, with permanent readiness and the ability to respond in multiple dimensions. For this reason, the military institution has adopted an approach based on integration between the various land, air, sea and cyber specializations within a single system.
