Baghdad, Iraq – Iraqi government spokesman Haider al-Aboudi affirmed that Iraq adheres to an independent policy based on non-alignment.
He also emphasized that Baghdad is a fully sovereign state and is not subject to the authority of any external party.
This comes as efforts to reform institutions and address the issue of weapons outside state control continue.
Affirmation of national sovereignty
Al-Aboudi said that Iraq refuses to be drawn into sharp regional and international axes or polarization.
He stressed that the Iraqi state possesses full sovereignty and makes its decisions in accordance with its national interests.
He pointed out that the government is working to strengthen
the independence of Iraqi decision-making and consolidate the role of state institutions.
This is done in a way that maintains security and stability and enhances Iraq’s position in its regional and international environment.
Continued reform and anti-corruption efforts
The government spokesperson explained that Baghdad is proceeding
with its institutional reform program and improving the performance of state institutions.
In addition, the government continues its efforts to combat corruption,
which it considers one of the most significant challenges facing development and stability.
He emphasized that the government prioritizes enhancing transparency
and improving the efficiency of public administration during this phase.
This will contribute to raising the level of services and strengthening citizens’ trust in official institutions.
Weapons file processing
Regarding the factions refusing to surrender their weapons, Al-Aboudi indicated that the reasons
these factions cite to justify their continued possession of arms will soon come to an end.
This comes as government efforts to consolidate weapons under state control are progressing.
The Iraqi government is working to implement plans aimed at strengthening
the authority of official security institutions and establishing the principle of the state’s monopoly on the use of force.
This is part of a broader strategy to support internal stability and reinforce the rule of law throughout the country.
