Abu Dhabi, UAE – His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, received a phone call from Masrour Barzani, Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
During the call,
Mr. Barzani expressed his condemnation of the Iranian attacks targeting civilian sites and facilities in the United Arab Emirates,
emphasizing that they constitute a blatant violation of sovereignty and international law.
Condemnation and denunciation of the attacks
During the call, the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region emphasized his categorical rejection of targeting civilians and vital infrastructure.
He considered these attacks a direct threat to regional security and stability.
He also explained that they undermine international efforts aimed at de-escalation in the region.
The two sides discussed the evolving situation in the region and the serious repercussions of the ongoing escalation.
They also exchanged views on ways to contain the tension and enhance regional
and international stability under the current circumstances.
Relations and joint coordination
This call comes as part of a series of regional contacts being conducted by the UAE leadership with a number of regional parties.
The purpose of these contacts is to discuss the latest developments,
emphasize the importance of diplomatic solutions, and strengthen cooperation in addressing shared security challenges.
According to the Emirates News Agency (WAM), both sides affirmed the importance of
continued coordination and consultation to serve regional stability.
This also aims to enhance security and peace in the region, given the escalating tensions in some areas.
