Jeddah, Saudi Arabia – The UAE national junior football team will open its campaign on Wednesday in the U-17 Asian Cup. Hosted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia at King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah.
The national team will meet the Republic of Korea in its opening match at 9:30 pm UAE time. In the first round of Group 3 of the continental championship, which also includes the Yemeni and Vietnamese national teams.
The national team concluded the preparation phase for the continental championship with a friendly victory over its counterpart, the Tajikistan national team, with a goal to none. This was during his camp in Dubai.
He also held an external camp in Thailand last April, during which he met the Indian national team twice, losing the first and winning the second. He also met the Thai national team and tied with them with one goal for each team.
The national team is looking forward to reaching the U-17 World Cup finals for the second time in a row, after qualifying in the last edition. The tournament awards 8 tickets to the 2026 World Cup.
Today, the first match of the tournament will be held, where Japan, the defending champion, and Qatar will meet in the first match. In the second, Indonesia and China will meet. In the third place are the Saudi and Myanmar national teams. In the fourth place are the teams of Tajikistan and Thailand.
