Abu Dhabi, UAE – Under the patronage and in the presence of Sheikh Khalid bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Zayed Authority for People of Determination, the 4th International Autism Conference 2026 was inaugurated in Abu Dhabi.
The conference, hosted by the Zayed Authority at the Abu Dhabi Energy Center,
will highlight the use of artificial intelligence and innovation to improve the quality of life for individuals
with autism spectrum disorder. It will also bring together leading experts and decision-makers from around the world.
Artificial intelligence as a tool for societal empowerment
Shams Ali Al Dhaheri, Chairman of the Department of Community Development in Abu Dhabi,
affirmed that the conference embodies a firm commitment to developing
an integrated system that responds to the needs of individuals and their families.
He pointed out that integrating innovation and artificial intelligence technologies is no longer
an option but a necessity to enhance the accuracy of early detection and assessment.
It also helps improve the quality of services provided.
Al Dhaheri explained that the Emirate of Abu Dhabi places autism as a strategic priority by building
a comprehensive pathway that accompanies individuals from diagnosis to full empowerment in adulthood.
This ensures their independence and active participation.
International participation and research
The fourth edition of the conference witnessed record growth in participation,
with Abdullah Al Humaidan, Secretary-General of the Zayed Authority for People of Determination,
revealing that it attracted nearly 6,000 participants (in person and remotely), compared to only 700 participants in the first edition in 2023.
The conference features 152 speakers, including 86 international experts, presenting more than 160 scientific and practical sessions.
Al Humaidan announced that the conference’s outcomes will be translated into practical solutions.
Among the most prominent of these solutions is the launch of the “Mawj” Early Intervention Center,
further solidifying Abu Dhabi’s position as a global hub for research and innovation in this field.
Family and Future Foresight
Mona Abdulkarim Al Yafei, Director General of Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services, and Dr. Ghaya Al Neyadi from ADNOC,
emphasized the crucial role of the family as a strategic partner in the rehabilitation journey,
particularly in light of the Year of the Family 2026.
The opening remarks affirmed that the integration of efforts between the public and private sectors
aims to build an inclusive and comprehensive environment.
This also involves investing in scientific research to provide a dignified and sustainable life for people of determination,
in line with the wise leadership’s vision of building an inclusive society for all.
