Dubai, UAE – Emirates International Aluminum Company announced, on Tuesday, its intention to acquire 80% of the shares of the Italian aluminum recycling company “Eco Green”.

This deal is the latest step in the company’s strategic plan for global expansion and accelerating the growth of its aluminum recycling business in Europe. The acquisition also directly enhances the company’s capabilities in the European aluminum scrap market. For the first time, the transaction is subject to the necessary regulatory approvals.

Eco Green specializes in scrap aluminum, sorting and casting, and processing slag, a type of waste resulting from smelting operations. The company distributes 70,000 tons annually.

Eco Green Works

Eco Green owns a factory in Villafranca di Verona in northeastern Italy, and collects, sorts and distributes about 23,000 tons of aluminum scrap annually. Some of the scrap, after sorting, is supplied to a nearby Eco Green facility in Nogara de Verona, which produces more than 20,000 tons of secondary scrap annually.

Eco Green is implementing an expansion plan in Nogara de Verona. This contributes to increasing its production by 15,000 tons of secondary aluminum annually. It is expected to be completed at the beginning of the second half of 2026.

Eco Green serves more than 60 clients across Europe, most of them in the aluminum manufacturing and processing sector. Their products serve the automotive, aviation, construction and other industrial sectors, and EcoGreen has established a strong scrap supply network of more than 350 suppliers. Ensuring a regular supply of high-quality aluminum scrap.

Following the completion of the acquisition of EcoGreen, Emirates Global Aluminium’s recycled aluminum production capacity will increase to more than 400,000 tons annually in the UAE, Europe, and the United States. In addition to more than 200,000 tons annually of additional production capacity. Currently being developed through existing projects in the United States and Europe, the company markets recycled aluminum globally under the Revival brand.

Accelerated progress

“We are making rapid progress in establishing an integrated global business base for aluminium recycling,” said Abdulnasser bin Kalban, CEO of Emirates International Aluminium. In parallel with enhancing our primary aluminum production, Eco Green has extensive experience, which, after completing the deal, will contribute to supporting our expansion in the aluminum scrap market in the region. It strengthens our role as an active partner in building a low-carbon future in Europe. This deal also enables us to produce recycled aluminum in northeastern Italy, and opens new horizons for our business growth.

Luca Scapini, CEO of EcoGreen, said: “Joining the world’s largest producer of high-quality aluminium represents a turning point in EcoGreen’s journey. It helps us strengthen our industrial operations, expand aluminum scrap supply chains and consolidate our presence in European markets. Emirates International Aluminum Company is one of the most prominent companies in the primary aluminum market in Europe. We look forward to supporting and expanding its recycling business across the continent.”
