Abu Dhabi, UAE – His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, issued a federal decree granting Abdullah Ahmed Al Mandous the rank of Minister. The decree is effective from the date of its issuance and publication in the Official Gazette.
Al Mandous is one of the UAE’s leading experts in the field of meteorology. He also serves as President of the World Meteorological Organization, in addition to leading the National Center of Meteorology. This reflects his influential presence at both the regional and international levels.
Outstanding career
Al Mandoos contributed to the development of the UAE’s meteorological sector by modernizing its technological infrastructure and enhancing the accuracy of weather forecasts.
He also spearheaded significant efforts to introduce advanced technologies that support climate change response. These efforts contribute to protecting lives and property.
Supporting cloud seeding programs
Al Mandoos oversaw several advanced national programs, particularly in the areas of cloud seeding and weather modification. These fields are considered strategic pillars for enhancing the country’s water security.

Academic qualifications and international experience
Al-Mandoos holds a PhD in Meteorology from the University of Belgrade. He also has a Master’s degree from the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa and a Bachelor’s degree from Saint Louis University in the United States.
This extensive academic background reflects his broad experience, which has enabled him to achieve significant accomplishments in his field both nationally and internationally.
