Dubai, United Arab Emirates – The Ministry of Defense announced that the UAE’s air defense systems successfully dealt today with 9 ballistic missiles, 6 cruise missiles and 148 drones.
The ministry explained that since the start of the Iranian attack, 174 ballistic missiles have been launched toward the country. Of these, 161 were destroyed, while 13 fell into the sea. Additionally, 689 drones were detected, 645 of which were intercepted. Forty-four drones landed within the country’s territory. The ministry added that eight cruise missiles were also detected and destroyed, causing some collateral damage.
According to the statement, the incident resulted in three deaths and 68 minor injuries. In addition, there was minor to moderate material damage to several civilian properties. The ministry indicated that the sounds heard in various areas were due to interceptions carried out by air defense systems against ballistic missiles. The sounds were also attributed to fighter jets engaging drones and cruise missiles.
The Ministry of Defense condemned the military attack “in the strongest terms,” deeming it a “blatant act of aggression” and a “flagrant violation” of national sovereignty and international law. It affirmed that the state reserves its full right to respond to this escalation. Furthermore, it will take all necessary measures to protect its territory, its people, and its residents.
The ministry affirmed its continued full readiness to address any threats and stated that it is taking all necessary measures to “firmly counter” any attempts to undermine the security and stability of the state. It also emphasized that the safety of citizens, residents, and visitors is a top priority.
The ministry also urged the public to obtain information from official sources and avoid circulating rumors or unreliable information.
