Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates – The Heritage Council for Contemporary Crafts, a prominent organization dedicated to preserving and promoting Emirati heritage and handicrafts, recently participated in the Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition. This event was held at the ADNEC Abu Dhabi Centre. It is an essential occasion on the calendar for anyone interested in hunting and equestrian heritage.

This participation underscores the Council’s commitment to presenting traditional crafts at events like the renowned Abu Dhabi Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition. These forms are innovative and creative. They resonate with contemporary society and align with the UAE’s national identity, which was well showcased during the exhibition.

By showcasing local crafts on the global stage, the Council aims to expand their reach and influence. This contributes to the broader recognition and appreciation of Emirati heritage. This is especially relevant when highlighted at events such as the prestigious Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition in Abu Dhabi.

Reem Bin Karam, the Director General of the Heritage Council for Contemporary Crafts, emphasized the significance of the Council’s inaugural participation in the Abu Dhabi Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition.

Hunting and equestrianism, integral to Emirati heritage, hold a profound place in the nation’s identity. The Abu Dhabi Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition offers an ideal venue to honor these cultural treasures.

Participation aligns with the Council’s vision and culture. It aims to expand the horizons of crafts in both local and international markets. This underscores the importance of platforms such as this key exhibition.

The Council’s message resonates with the need to highlight Emirati heritage and handicrafts in a contemporary spirit. This showcases the creativity of craftsmen. They transform heritage into products that express identity and resonate with new generations, especially evident during this exhibition.

Furthermore, the Council recognizes the crucial role of Emirati craftswomen in preserving heritage and fostering a diversified and sustainable economy.

As a leading institution, the Heritage Council for Contemporary Crafts strives to preserve and enhance traditional crafts. This is done by integrating them with modern designs. Such a critical theme was showcased during the noteworthy Abu Dhabi exhibition dedicated to hunting and equestrianism.

The Council’s efforts include empowering craftswomen through training and skill development programs. These programs reach the UAE, the Middle East, North Africa, and Asia. Their impact was highlighted at the Abu Dhabi Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition.

Their extensive network of over 840 craftsmen facilitates collaboration and exchange of knowledge.

Additionally, the Council’s international partnerships connect authentic Emirati crafts with their counterparts worldwide. This fosters global recognition and appreciation of Emirati heritage, particularly evident in exhibitions like the Abu Dhabi Hunting and Equestrian fair.

It promotes knowledge exchange and fosters sustainable markets for handmade products globally.

At the same time, it preserves cultural heritage in a modern way that enhances Emirati identity.

A career full of achievements

This year, the Heritage Council celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2015.

Over the past decade, the Council has made significant strides in empowering women craftsmen. They established an integrated training and production system that spans 13 countries worldwide.

Since its inception, the Council has achieved remarkable accomplishments. These have transformed handicrafts from mere tools into cultural symbols of artistic and economic significance. Additionally, these crafts reflect national identity and contribute to the empowerment of society, particularly women.

The Council has also successfully presented the craft as a means of cultural dialogue. This is achieved through strategic partnerships with renowned international institutions like Bulgari and Cartier. Their contributions were notably displayed at the Abu Dhabi Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition.

In 2019, the Council played a pivotal role in nominating and selecting the Emirate of Sharjah as a creative city. This nomination was in the field of crafts and folk arts by UNESCO.

This recognition was a testament to the Council’s embrace of one of the most ancient Emirati crafts, “Tali.”

The Abu Dhabi Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition is an innovative heritage and cultural platform. It celebrates the rich Emirati identity.

The exhibition features workshops and live performances showcasing arts and crafts inspired by local heritage.

With its expansion to include over 15 sectors, the Abu Dhabi Hunting and Equestrian exhibition has become a comprehensive destination. It celebrates heritage. It also displays authentic handmade products within a rich cultural and interactive context, prominently at the Abu Dhabi Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition.
