  • Don’t go to the central bank: streamline procedures and reduce travel burdens.
  • Enhancing preparedness and increasing the number of postal outlets

Damascus, Syria – The Central Bank of Syria announced on Sunday that it is continuing the process of withdrawing old currency from circulation through authorized branches of the Syrian Postal Corporation located throughout all Syrian governorates. This is being done in accordance with the established procedures and regulations governing the process.

Don’t go to the central bank: streamline procedures and reduce travel burdens.

In an official statement issued today, the Central Bank confirmed that citizens do not need to visit the bank’s main building in the capital, Damascus, in order to complete the process of withdrawing or exchanging currency. Instead, the bank called on all those wishing to benefit from this service to go directly to the authorized Syrian Post Corporation outlets in their governorates. This is in accordance with the specific mechanism that contributes to the smooth running of their affairs.

The bank explained that this measure primarily aims to facilitate withdrawal transactions for citizens and alleviate the burdens and difficulties of traveling between governorates. Moreover, the measure also ensures efficient service provision across all regions. This is being implemented while completing all administrative procedures in accordance with established legal and banking regulations.

Enhancing preparedness and increasing the number of postal outlets

In a related context, the Central Bank indicated that it is working diligently and in full coordination with the Syrian Postal Corporation to increase the number of withdrawal outlets available to citizens. In addition, the bank is also striving to enhance the technical and logistical readiness of these outlets. These ongoing steps are part of the bank’s efforts to expedite citizens’ access to required banking services. They also aim to reduce waiting times, as well as improve the overall level of postal and banking services provided throughout the country.
