Aden, Yemen – The Southern Transitional Council (STC) confirmed that preparations are underway across the southern Yemeni governorates to commemorate the ninth anniversary of the “Historic Aden Declaration” and the founding of the STC.
This occasion serves to renew the popular mandate granted to President Aidarus Qasim al-Zubaidi to represent the cause of the people of the South in all international forums. It also aims to reaffirm this mandate for political action.
Organizational mobilization and official slogan
In preparation for the celebrations, the organizing committee approved the official logo for this anniversary, which embodies a new phase of southern national unity.
The logo carries profound national significance, affirming the steadfastness of the popular will and its determination to move forward towards achieving all legitimate aspirations. Furthermore, it reflects the popular consensus surrounding the Southern Transitional Council as the sole political representative of the southern cause.
The administrative body of the National Assembly and the Council of Advisors called on the people of the South to participate widely and actively in the events to be held in the capital, Aden, and the governorates of Hadramawt, Al-Mahra, and Socotra on May 4th.
This mass mobilization aims to send a clear message to the international and regional community. It also affirms that the people of the South are committed to their political leadership and their right to restore their independent federal state.
struggle journey
Anwar al-Tamimi stated that the people of the South will rally to renew their pledge of loyalty to the principles upon which the Southern Transitional Council was founded, emphasizing that this ongoing revolutionary momentum is the rock upon which all conspiracies aimed at fracturing the unity of the southern ranks will shatter.
He pointed out that this year’s events are of particular importance in light of the current political transformations, as the Council seeks to strengthen its diplomatic presence and secure the rights of southerners in any comprehensive peace process.
It is worth noting that May 4, 2017, marked a pivotal turning point in the history of the southern struggle, when hundreds of thousands gathered in Aden’s Parade Square to declare their “mandate” to Major General Aidarus al-Zubaidi to form a national political leadership to govern and represent the South. This later resulted in the establishment of the Southern Transitional Council. Today, the Council has become a significant player in the Yemeni and regional political landscape.
