Abu Dhabi, UAE – Abu Dhabi Ports Group announced the signing of an agreement with Emirates International Aluminum Company, the largest producer of high-quality aluminum in the world, to implement development work for the company’s designated pier in Khalifa Port.
The agreement comes within the framework of the long-term strategic partnership between the two sides, which will jointly invest AED 84 million in a multi-stage program to develop the quay and modernize the port infrastructure allocated to Emirates International Aluminum Company, allowing it to receive large Newcastle Max ships for dry bulk cargo capable of transporting a tonnage of about 15 to 20% more than the Cap Size ships currently docked there Which will contribute to enhancing dock productivity, operational efficiency and shipment handling performance.
8 million tons of goods annually
After completing the planned development work by August 2028, the developed pier is expected to allow handling about 8 million tons of bulk cargo annually. In addition to enhancing operational flexibility by providing additional unloading facilities.
The development project also includes the modernization of the existing overpass of the pier. Installing new anchors and barriers, extending crane bridges and foundations, adding connectivity capabilities to services and facilities, and carrying out dredging operations.
These updates will allow larger ships to be received with the highest levels of safety and efficiency. And support the expected increase in bulk cargo volumes in the future.
