Paris, France – International press reports have revealed a shocking surprise regarding ticket prices for the 2026 World Cup. Prices have reached unprecedented levels, under the current ticket resale system.
The United States, Mexico, and Canada are set to co-host the tournament, which will take place from June 11 to July 19. For the first time in World Cup history, 48 teams will participate.
Radio Monte Carlo revealed that the ticket resale market has seen enormous price hikes. Tickets for the final match were offered through FIFA’s official platform at shockingly high prices.
The price of a World Cup final ticket is astronomical.
According to the report, tickets for the tournament final reached approximately $2.3 million, reflecting high demand and increasing popularity. This highlights the significant gap between the average fan and the price of admission.
He explained that the current system does not give FIFA the power to set prices within the resale market. However, it generates huge revenues through commissions levied on buying and selling transactions.
The report indicated that four Category 1 tickets were made available for the final match, scheduled for July 19 at MetLife Stadium. Each ticket is priced at $2,299,998 and is for seats in the lower tiers directly behind the goal.
He added that FIFA receives 15% from the buyer and another 15% from the seller. This means they could earn around $690,000 from each ticket sold at that price.
The International Federation had previously confirmed that its ticketing model is based on market mechanisms used in major North American events. This includes variable pricing based on demand, with the aim of maximizing attendance and revenue.
The network concluded its report by emphasizing that the continued rise in ticket prices has sparked widespread anger among fans. This is especially true given that the lowest price for a ticket to the tournament final reached approximately $10,923, making attending the event an unattainable dream for many supporters.
