London, England – UEFA has announced that English referee Michael Oliver will officiate the highly anticipated Champions League group stage match between Real Madrid and Inter Milan.
Real Madrid will host Inter Milan next Tuesday at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium in the first round of the Champions League group stage.
Oliver will be assisted in managing the match by his compatriots Stuart Burt and James Mainwaring, while Sam Parrott will serve as the fourth official.
The Video Assistant Referee (VAR) system is overseen by Scotsman Andrew Dallas, assisted by Englishman Michael Salisbury.
Oliver’s record with Real Madrid and Inter Milan
The 41-year-old English referee has previously officiated five Real Madrid matches in European competitions, the most recent being the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final against Bayern Munich last season.
Real Madrid achieved 3 victories and suffered 2 defeats in the five matches that Oliver officiated for the Royal team.
On the other hand, the English referee has officiated four Inter Milan matches in European competitions. The most recent was against Ajax in last season’s Champions League.
Inter came away with positive results during the four matches that Oliver managed, after achieving victory in 3 matches and a draw in one match.
