Barcelona, Spain – FC Barcelona has announced a new friendly match against Swiss side Basel, as part of its preparations for the 2026-2027 football season, after the cancellation of the match that was scheduled to bring it together with Moroccan side Ittihad Tanger.
Barcelona were scheduled to play Ittihad Tanger in Morocco on August 15, but the Catalan club explained that the match was cancelled for security reasons related to the situation in the city of Ceuta.
Barcelona will face Basel in Switzerland
Barcelona revealed that they will face Swiss side Basel on August 16 at Jakob-Park stadium, at 5:30 pm Egypt and Saudi Arabia time, as part of their preparations for the new season.
The match against Basel is part of a series of games that Barcelona will play during the preseason, as their program includes a training camp in Italy, which will feature two friendly matches against Nottingham Forest and Udinese.
Hamza Abdelkarim continues with Barcelona
Barcelona had begun their preparations for the new season with a Europa League match, and succeeded in achieving a 4-1 victory, in a match that witnessed the first appearance of the young Egyptian striker Hamza Abdel Karim in the first team jersey under the leadership of Hansi Flick.
Hamza Abdel Karim remains on the first team roster after Flick decided to bring back three Barcelona Athletic players to the reserve team, giving the Egyptian striker a new opportunity to participate in the upcoming preparatory matches.
