Cairo, Egypt – Ibrahim Hassan, the director of the Egyptian national team, revealed the latest developments regarding the injured players’ condition before the anticipated match against Argentina in the round of 16 of the 2026 World Cup. He confirmed that the coaching staff will only be missing two players due to injury.
The Egyptian national team will face Argentina on Tuesday evening in the round of 16 of the World Cup. In this match, the Pharaohs will be looking to continue their historic run in the tournament.
Ibrahim Hassan said in televised remarks on Sada El Balad channel: “We will not suffer from absences against Argentina except for Ahmed Fatouh and Mohamed Abdel Moneim. Their chances of playing in the match seem difficult due to injury”.
The team manager spoke about Mohamed Salah, praising the Pharaohs’ captain’s performances with the national team. He said, “Mohamed Salah appears in a completely different light when he joins the national team camp, and he delivers outstanding performances under Hossam Hassan’s leadership”.
He added: “Salah has the ability to perform more than one role on the field. Hossam Hassan succeeded in utilizing his capabilities in more than one position, which gave him greater freedom within the team”.
Ibrahim Hassan concluded his remarks by affirming his confidence in all the players. He also expressed his hope that the national team would continue its positive results and secure qualification for the quarter-finals at the expense of Argentina.
