Madrid, Spain – Barcelona were crowned Spanish League champions for the 2025-2026 season, following their deserved 2-0 victory over arch-rivals Real Madrid in El Clasico on Sunday evening, in the 35th round of La Liga, at the Spotify Camp Nou stadium.
Barcelona, led by coach Hansi Flick, entered the match with the motto “no alternative to victory.” The team needed a win or at least a draw to officially clinch the title with three rounds remaining in the competition.
Barcelona succeeded in imposing their control early on, after Marcus Rashford opened the scoring in the ninth minute, with a wonderful rocket shot from a direct free kick on the edge of the penalty area, which settled into the Merengues’ net.
