Birmingham, England – Aston Villa secured their place in the Europa League final after thrashing fellow English side Nottingham Forest 4-0 in the second leg of their semi-final tie at Villa Park on Thursday evening.
The home side imposed their control on the course of the match from the beginning, with Ollie Watkins opening the scoring in the 36th minute, before Emi Buendia reinforced the result with a second goal from a penalty kick in the 58th minute.
Aston Villa continued their attacking dominance in the final minutes, with John McGinn adding the third and fourth goals in the 77th and 80th minutes, thus confirming his team’s passage to the European final in the best possible way.
Nottingham Forest had won the first leg at City Ground with a 1-0 victory thanks to a penalty from Chris Wood, but Aston Villa turned the tables in the second leg with a strong and well-deserved performance.
