Geneva, Switzerland – Slovenian Tadej Pugachar, a cyclist for the Emirates XRG team, won the title of the 89th edition of the 2026 Tour de Switzerland. After achieving his third victory in the race stages, after topping the fifth and final stage, which concluded on Sunday in Villars-sur-Olonne.
Pugachar put in a strong performance on the difficult heights of the final stage, confirming his dominance of the race and securing the overall lead. Adding a new title to his record of achievements, as part of his preparations for the Tour de France next month.
The Tour of Switzerland witnessed remarkable brilliance from the UAE team, which achieved 4 victories out of 5 stages through Pugachar and his Ecuadorian colleague Jonathan Narvaez. Meanwhile, American Brandon McNulty finished the race in sixth place overall.
In the final stage, the Emirates team imposed its rhythm on the course of the race to pursue the escape group. Before Pugachar launched a decisive attack 8.2 kilometers from the finish line, he succeeded in overtaking his rivals one by one.
On the final climb, Pugachar caught up with and passed Frenchman Lenny Martinez with more than a kilometer to go. He took the lead and crossed the finish line with a 7-second lead, winning the stage and the overall title.
