Vancouver, Canada – FIFA President Gianni Infantino confirmed that the Iranian national team will participate normally in the 2026 World Cup finals, stressing that it will play its matches within the United States of America.
Infantino made these remarks during his address at the FIFA Congress in Vancouver. He stated from the outset that Iran’s participation was “clearly confirmed,” emphasizing that there were no obstacles preventing their presence at the tournament.
The next edition of the World Cup will be jointly organized by the United States, Canada and Mexico, in a historic edition that will be held for the first time with the participation of 48 teams.
Iran is set to be placed in Group G, alongside Egypt, New Zealand, and Belgium, in a group that appears wide open and is considered one of the most exciting in the tournament.
