Islamabad, Pakistan – Pakistani security forces killed 15 terrorists in a series of precise and coordinated intelligence operations across Balochistan province, state media reported Sunday. Pakistan’s state television channel, quoting official security sources, reported that the search and clearance operations took place in eight key areas of Balochistan. This was part of the ongoing “Radd-ul-Fitna 3” operation.

Field reports confirmed that large quantities of various weapons and ammunition were recovered from the slain terrorists during these operations. In an official statement, Pakistan’s state television channel declared that “these operations severely damaged the Kharijite network and restricted their movements.” It used the term “Kharijites” to refer to armed terrorist groups.

Escalating security challenges and rising death toll in Balochistan

These intensified security operations come at a time when Balochistan continues to face significant security challenges and a marked escalation in violence. In this context, the monthly security assessment issued by the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS) on July 31st showed a sharp deterioration in the province’s security situation. The total number of deaths in the province increased by 241%. The numbers rose from 109 in June to 372 in July.

The report also noted a dramatic surge in the number of security force casualties in Balochistan, jumping from just six in June to 62 in July – a record increase of 933%. Conversely, the number of terrorists killed rose from 75 to 238. Additionally, civilian casualties increased by 93% to 54, compared to 28 in June. The period also saw the deaths of 18 members of local peace committees.

The aftermath of previous bloody attacks and state actions

These field operations are a continuation of the extensive military efforts to control the situation. Last month, security forces and law enforcement personnel launched “Operation Shaban” in Balochistan. This was a direct response to the deadly attack on a police station at the Manji Dam pumping station in the Ziarat district on July 6. The attack resulted in the abduction and killing of 27 police officers. Consequently, the Pakistani leadership has been determined to intensify military operations.
