Jeddah, Saudi Arabia – Al Sadd qualified for the quarter-finals of the AFC Champions League after eliminating Al Hilal on penalties, following a 3-3 draw after extra time. The match was held at Prince Abdullah Al Faisal Sports City Stadium.
The match began with an attacking pace from both sides, with Al Sadd threatening Al Hilal’s goal early on. Al Hilal responded with dangerous attempts, most notably a header from Karim Benzema that was saved by goalkeeper Meshaal Barsham.
Sergej Milinkovic-Savic opened the scoring for Al Hilal in the 29th minute, before Claudinho equalized for Al Sadd in the 37th minute.

The extra time periods did not witness anything new, so the two teams resorted to penalty kicks, which smiled in favor of Al Sadd, to decide the qualification card to the quarter-finals after an exciting match.
