Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – Al-Qadisiyah secured a thrilling 3-2 victory over Al-Ahli at Prince Mohammed bin Fahd Stadium in Dammam, in a match that was part of the 26th round of the Saudi Professional League.
Al-Qadisiyah raised their points tally to 60, securing fourth place in the standings. Al-Ahli’s points remained at 62, keeping them in second place.
Al-Ahli started the match strongly and opened the scoring in the 26th minute through Englishman Ivan Tony. Tony capitalized on a defensive error by Al-Qadisiyah, unleashing a powerful shot from outside the penalty area that found the back of goalkeeper Quinn Castles’ net.
Al Ahly added a second goal in the 41st minute through Valentin Atangana. The goal came after he followed up a perfect cross from the right wing by Ivorian Franck Kessié.
As the second half began, Al-Qadisiyah intensified their attacking efforts in search of a way back into the game. Their efforts paid off in the 63rd minute when Musab Al-Juwair scored the first goal for his team with a shot from inside the penalty area that found the back of goalkeeper Edward Mendy’s net.
The home side continued to press in the final minutes, with Turki Al-Ammar finally equalizing in the second minute of stoppage time. The goal came after a controversial strike that was later confirmed by the referee following a VAR review.
In the final moments of the match, Al-Qadisiyah snatched a dramatic winning goal through Ibrahim Mahnashi in the 90+9th minute, sealing the victory for his team and giving them a dramatic win in front of their fans.
