Tripoli, Libya – Egyptian star Omar Assar continued his continental dominance, winning the African Table Tennis Championships in the men’s singles category. He secured the title after a convincing 4-0 victory over Algerian Mehdi Bouloussa in the final.

The Libyan city of Benghazi hosted the current edition of the African Table Tennis Championships 2026, which witnessed a clear dominance by Omar Assar during the final match.

The Egyptian player won the match without losing any set, with scores of 12-10, 11-8, 11-7, and 11-7, confirming his technical superiority and great experience in decisive matches.

With this victory, Omar Assar raised his tally to seven continental titles, having previously reached the podium in 2015, 2018, 2019, 2022, 2023, and 2025, thus strengthening his position as one of the most prominent table tennis stars in the continent.

The tournament also saw Egyptian Hana Gouda crowned women’s singles champion, achieving her fourth title in her African career.
