Missouri, USA – Algeria and Austria secured their places in the Round of 32 of the 2026 World Cup after a thrilling 3-3 draw in their match. This result, in the third and final round of Group J, eliminated Iran from the tournament.
Austria took the lead first through Marko Arnautovic in the 28th minute, before Rafik Belghali equalized for Algeria before the end of the first half.
In the second half, Austria regained their lead through Marcel Sabitzer in the 56th minute. But Riyad Mahrez quickly brought the “Desert Warriors” back into the game with an equalizer four minutes later.
In stoppage time, Algeria appeared poised to secure victory after Mahrez scored his second and his country’s third goal in the 93rd minute. However, Saša Kaladžić snatched a dramatic equalizer for Austria two minutes later, ending the match in a 3-3 draw.
