Details of field targeting
An Israeli military spokesperson stated that one of the airstrikes targeted Abdul Rahman Maher Abdul Karim Ziada, whom he described as a cell commander in the elite Qassam Brigades. According to the Israeli account, Ziada was among those involved in the October 7, 2023, attack, in which he infiltrated Israeli territory, seized a military vehicle, and transported it into the Gaza Strip.
In a separate operation in the Khan Younis area of southern Gaza, the army confirmed the killing of Kamal Muhammad Hamdan al-Najjar, who served as the head of the tunnel unit in the same area.
The statement claimed that al-Najjar was involved in planning and directing attacks against Israeli forces operating in the field throughout the ongoing war.
The commander of the naval police was killed.
The army also announced the killing of the Hamas naval police commander, along with two other officers, during an airstrike targeting areas in camps in the central Gaza Strip. No further details were released regarding the precise timing of the operation or the identities of the other two officers killed.
The Israeli military confirmed that these operations were based on focused and “precise” intelligence. It emphasized that the individuals targeted posed a “direct and immediate threat” to forces operating in the Gaza Strip.
